Joe Walsh interviews Sean Patterson at Christ
Sounds (Feb 2001)
Joe:
How did you all come up with the name of your band?
Sean:
Our name derives from a biblical quote found in Psalm 89. As the moon
reflects light to the night sky, it serves as a constant reminder that
the sun permeates the darkness. Similarly, we believe that we are continually
refined by God to reflect the light of the Son to the world.
Joe:
How long have you all been together?
Sean:
Almost two years.
Joe:
Do you have a favorite thing you like to do on stage?
Sean:
Get the audience involved. We like to have a good time when we play and
want everyone else to enjoy it as much as we do.
Joe:
When did you decide you wanted to sing for the Lord?
Sean:
I think we all kinda knew at some point in High School. Just nothing really
developed until most of us were in college.
Joe:
When did you become a Christian?
Sean:
It varies for all of us. We all grew up in Christian homes, so we would
say we all became Christians early in life, but I believe we're all still
learning what it really means to be a Christian.
Joe:
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you while on
stage?
Sean:
What hasn't happened! Everything from the sound going out, to instruments
falling to setting off fire alarms with a rampant smoke machine. It gets
interesting sometimes.
Joe:
Do you have a testimony about your walk with God? If so please share!
Sean:
God always uses what little we put into anything and multiplies it. He
never ceases to amaze us with his love for us, especially because we don't
deserve any of it. He has taught us a lot about giving over the past 2
years and has exposed all of our weaknesses, only to make us stronger
people through it.
Joe:
Do you have any advice to other Christian singers, bands, or musicians?
Sean:
Playing music, professionally or just as a hobby is hard work. It takes
a lot of time and energy to make it all work, but the hard work will pay
off...maybe not the way you thought it should, but always the way God
wanted it to all along. Also, keep writing songs. Write as often as possible,
you can never write too much.
